چکیده

Accurate assessment of crop nitrogen (N) status and understanding the N demand are considered essential in precision management. Chlorophyll fluorescence is unsusceptible to confounding signals from underlying bare soil closely related plant photosynthetic activity. Therefore, sensing a promising technology for monitoring status, even at an early growth stage. The objectives this study were evaluate potential using Multiplex® 3, proximal canopy sensor, detect variability quantitatively estimate indicators four key stages maize. sensor measurements performed different stages, three regression methods compared concentration (PNC), uptake (PNU), nutrition index (NNI). results indicated that induced differences maize detectable as V6 first method based on simple (SR) Multiplex indices normalized by growing degree days (GDD) or sufficiency (NSI) achieved acceptable estimation accuracy (R2 = 0.73–0.87), showing good estimation. second multiple linear (MLR), GDDs had lowest modeling 0.46–0.79). third tested used non-linear approach form random forest (RFR) GDDs. This best 0.84–0.93) most accurate diagnostic result.

Active Optical Sensing of Spring Maize for In-Season Diagnosis of Nitrogen Status Based on Nitrogen Nutrition Index

The nitrogen (N) nutrition index (NNI) is a reliable indicator of crop N status and there is an urgent need to develop efficient technologies for non-destructive estimation of NNI to support the practical applications of precision N management strategies. The objectives of this study were to: (i) validate a newly established critical N dilution curve for spring maize in Northeast China; (ii) de...

Optimization of Active Canopy Sensor Spacing for Directing Mid-season Nitrogen Application in Corn

Active canopy sensors can be used to assess canopy N status and direct in-season spatially-variable N applications. This study was conducted (i) to determine the optimum sensor spacing for N application in corn, and (ii) to compare splitand whole-boom N application scenarios. In 2007 active sensor readings were collected over 24 consecutive rows at the V9 growth stage in a central Nebraska corn...
